Gather around, and I shall show you below how I got all minis from all 5 current Adventure System games in one box including:Dungeons & Dragons: Castle Ravenloft Board Game
Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of Ashardalon Board Game
Dungeons & Dragons: The Legend of Drizzt Board Game
Dungeons & Dragons: Temple of Elemental Evil Board Game
Dungeons & Dragons: Tomb of Annihilation Board Game
Why did I do such a thing you may ask? Well, I wanted to have them all handy for both RPG D&D as well as the Adventure System games - having 5 boxes nearby didn't quite make the RPG easy to find what I was after.
I started by using Gorilla Glue gel superglue to attach rare earth magnets to the base of every mini. I went with 1 mm thickness because they will stay below the depth of the base ring under the mini, and not make them stand funny on the board or table.
I built a foam core insert to make the total box 8.25" tall (so that one of the other ones holding all the other games contents minus sleeved cards) and this box will fit in an Ikea Kallax shelf. Doing this, I can keep all other cards in 4 550 card BCD boxes which also sit in the same cubby behind the game boxes.
I took magnetic steel mesh I found at Home Depot and cut it to size for all surfaces containing minis - same gel superglue. The minis are now held securely in place, and don't move even if the box is jostled a bit (even the ones that sit upside down most of their life).
Insert highlights:
-8.25" tall
-lower shelf is 3.5" from the bottom allowing all minis to easily fit and even allow larger minis in the future
-upper shelf is 2.5" above the lower shelf - contains all heroes and most villians
-roof of the box contains the rest of the minis, I try to use the lightest ones here and add an extra magnet to them all since they are upside-down
Voila:
Now, on to painting!
