Hi, was not sure where to post this so apologies if this is not the appropriate place.I do enjoy this game. However, many gamers including my gaming buddies bemoan this game as lacking choices and relentless enemies always getting the initiative. Due to these common criticisms many will not entertain the game at all.
I don't disagree totally with these negatives, but as a system, using the doors from WOA and the random Monster encounter tokens (from CR) in all games I play helps counter some of the mechanical objections.
However, I was wondering about incorporating a custom third option action a hero could take. My initial thoughts are when a monster or monsters are encountered, could the hero voluntarily take a new 'Skulking' condition? This would mean that any monsters cards he has do not interact with him/her. Similar to when a hero HP reaches 0. The downside is the Skulking condition could penalise the hero in the next their round. My ideas were a) maybe -2 to all movement and attack stats, or B) maybe the hero could have their movement reduce to 3 in the next round thereby hampering exploration as they sneak away. The Skulk condition option would not be available to a player who already has a monster on their tile during the their exploration phase. The Skulk condition would be discarded at the end of their next action phase.
Its just any idea, but I would be interested in players opinions, and is their a template anywhere to make customised conditions?
