I notice that a 4 player game is much easier than a 2 player game, probably due to 2 issues.

You explore the smae number of tiles and reveal the same number of monsters/encounters, however these are spread among 4 players (2x as many hit points) instead of 2 players.

In addition, each player has fewer turns, so proportionally, you use your daily and utility powers on more of your turns. With 2 players, you are forced to use your at will powers on most of your turns, which makes you comparatively weaker.

Has anyone made a variant to scale according to number of players?

Some ideas to reduce difficulty in a 2 player game:
1. Each player has 2 surges, or
2. each player starts with 2 daily powers, or
3. level up on a roll of 19 or 20 (plus 5xp) or
4. roll 16-20 to avoid an encounter or
5 each player can reroll once per game.

Some ideas to increase difficulty in a 4 player game:
1. If you draw a 1 xp monster on your first draw, draw another monster card.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!
